Vanderbilt’s Uniform Unveiling and Bill Traughber Book Signing a Success

Bill Traughber’s book signing for Vanderbilt Football: Tales of Commodore Gridiron History last night coincided with an unveiling event for the team’s new uniforms:

“The evening opened at Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt with Head Coach James Franklin joining the Voice of the Commodores, Joe Fisher, for a question and answer session. Topics ranged from Franklin’s summer vacation to his excitement for the August 30 season opener against South Carolina” (VUCommodores.com).

Vanderbilt Football begins in 1890 when Vanderbilt’s crosstown rivals, University of Nashville, challenged the Commodores to a football game. Fullback and founding head coach Elliott H. Jones promptly organized a team and delivered a crushing 40–0 victory, launching Vandy’s pigskin tradition and helping football gain a foothold in the South.

Join seasoned Nashville sports history researcher and Vanderbilt athletics historian Bill Traughber as he brings to life the star players, outstanding teams, beloved coaches and remarkable games that shaped this treasured institution.

…As Vanderbilt football continues making history, this is a collection every Commodore fan will want to claim.
